This is an oil painting that I renovated. There wasn't much that I liked in the old painting except for the tree. Consequently, I kept the tree but got rid of everything else. Before repainting, I used odorless mineral spirits to remove most of the old paint. I also scraped any remaining paint off with a palette knife, but left the tree in place.
Below is the original painting. This one is a slight improvement that could be much better in my opinion.
