Debbie's Watercolor

Watercolor by Debbie Johnson
December 11, 2011

This is a watercolor painting I received from my friend Debbie Johnson, an artist I went to school with. The minute I saw this painting on Debbie's Facebook page I was fascinated by it.

The really amazing story behind this painting was that it was done entirely without a brush. Debbie's outstanding composition and color in this painting leads the viewer right in. I really like all the detail in the pedals of the sunflowers and how it shifts from cool (in the upper right corner) to warm tones.

I asked Debbie if I could buy this painting from her and instead we ended up exchanging art. I gave her and a drawing and in exchange she gave me this wonderful painting. I definitely got the better end of the deal. I like the idea of exchanging art with friends and fellow artists. This is one of my favorite paintings in my collection and I just love it.
