Sketching with Copic Markers

After the version by Scott Robertson
June 15, 2014

Here some recent drawings/illustrations I've been working. Most were done using the very excellent Japanese Copic Sketch markers. The markers are alcohol based and go on like paint so they're very fun to use.

Someone mentioned to me other day that they were impressed by range of subject matter. I was thankful for the compliment because I really try to focus on more than a single theme. I like all kinds of mediums from pencil to oil paints, markers to watercolor pencils.

Classics
The same applies to subject matter. I like to explore and take chances when it comes to the subjects I draw. Lately I've been having lot's of fun just doing illustrations. I still love to paint in oil and I'll get back to it soon, but for now I'm just going to go where ever the subject matter takes me.

Mr. Harvey
There's something very liberating about creating whatever art you feel like. The drawing of Mr. Harvey (the dog) below was from a Facebook photo that a friend posted. I had a great time drawing him and the friend loves it, so it was a win all the way around.

I've also been posting a lot of YouTube videos lately. Mostly pencil reviews. I enjoy doing the videos and it gives me a great chance to interact with other artists who have similar interests. Just recently I was invited to a Facebook group called, "Colored Pencils, Graphite and Pastels" which is excellent. I've really enjoyed seeing the great work of other artists. The page administrator is a woman named Stacey Crummett and she's an excellent artist in her own right. Here is a link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/coloredpencilpastel/
